Renewing Intentions + Journaling Supplies Giveaway

Milestones are one of my favorite things, and today, I’m renewing my intentions in celebration of an important milestone – 23 years of my life. Another milestone that’s coming up next week is my Bullet Journal anniversary (yes, I’m that #plannernerd), and in celebration of it, I’m giving away some of my favorite journaling supplies to you guys – my readers!
Let’s dive into the details, shall we?

Renewing Intentions:

For a long time, I’d been told that celebrating anything other than religious festivals is a form of … mild blasphemy, I guess? Up until my 18th birthday, I hadn’t done anything special, because I hadn’t challenged the information I was given.

Earlier that year I had done some research on the origin of birthdays – which we were told were non-Muslim religious festivals – and I came to the conclusion that certain well-known practices, such as blowing out the candles on your birthday cake, are the ones associated with non-Muslim beliefs, while simply celebrating your birthday was something that plenty of cultures did, as a rite of passage. Plus, self-reflection is an important part of it, as well as being an important part of Islam.

So I took up a new tradition: reflecting on my past year and renewing my intentions for the upcoming one every September. Now, I won’t bore you with the details of my reflection, but in the spirit of sharing, I’ll tell you a little about intention renewal.

I’m a planner at heart. I read Sean Covey’s 7 Habits for Effective Teenagers when I was 15 or 16 and asked for a Seven Habits organizer immediately. The minute I got one, I was furiously planning my life. I was disenchanted by the organizer after a while, though, because even though I’m a planner, I most often don’t tend to stick to the plan. Especially not over the long term.

Things happened, but I still kept making plans. And lists. I don’t know when it is that I discovered lists for future plans, but I made a lot of them. Some I got rid of, but some I kept. Recently, I discovered such a list, in which I had made 5-year, 7-year, and 10-year plans when I was 17. Granted, I’d forgotten all about them once my goals and life vision had shifted onto another path, but rediscovering them was a great reminder of the importance of renewing intentions, because while some goals were no longer suitable, some were even less crazy and more achievable than they were when I wrote them down.

Today, I just want to renew my intentions surrounding this blog. I’ve failed you guys, my readers, a lot. I made promises to write every Tuesday and Saturday, but that doesn’t keep happening consistently. For example, I was supposed to share my Bullet Journal story about 5 weeks ago, in anticipation of this post and giveaway, but that hasn’t happened yet (it’s still a WIP post). I’m trying to catch up with the posts I’d planned and missed, but that’s going quite slow.

I haven’t given up, so expect a few more frequent posts in the upcoming days, covering all the ones I missed. The second thing I want to commit to today is more giveaways in the upcoming year. I don’t know about you guys, but I think a giveaway per quarter is good? Let me know in the comments if you’re interested! I’d like to do different giveaways, not just journaling ones. This is just the first of many, in-sha Allah (God willing).

The Giveaway:

Now for the most exciting part of this post: the journaling supplies giveaway. We will have three lucky winners this time, each of whom will receive one of the following:

Journaling Supplies Giveaway
This rad poster was designed by the awesome gals at ayeina.com!

Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I consider the A5 Leuchtturm and Staedtler Fineliners the ultimate notebook and pens for journaling. I even gave up using my mechanical pencil after being enchanted by these pens! As for the notebook, there aren’t words that would suffice to describe the quality of the paper.
I haven’t tried the AlhamdulillahFor series journal yet, though I did download the digital version and I’m looking forward to printing it out in the next couple of days. I’ve heard raving reviews about it, so I’m popping it in this giveaway.

Haha. Let me the first one to enter. Giveaways are such a cool idea because they increase interaction and following immensely and well the winners get to get win such nice things 🙂

    What I intend to do.
With Alhamdulilah for series- I have the digital series and like you I was planning to download andnprint but well didnot come to it yet. I was planning on using it in two ways. One to find simple and small ways/things that I am grateful for in my marriage cos I think my marriage needs a refreshed outlook now. Second to find simple, quirky and funny things in my motherhood journey that I am grateful for. Alhamdulilah

The notebook cos I love writing and alll my literary pursuits have taken a setback for a year now and I want to get back to it and looks really cool.

I have never used the fineliners but I suppose they are pretty amazing!

  2. Aisyah Ezral

Salaam! This is great! And we’re about the same age – blessings on 23 years of life! I love your way of commemoration <3

What I intend to do with…

    1. Alhamdulillahfor series: Share it with my family and friends to increase gratitude in our lives.

    2. Notebook: To start daily (or… regular, who am I kidding) journalling again which I have been slacking at for the past couple of years.

    3. Fineliners: To use for my collages, handmade cards, inspirational posters for myself AND journalling in the notebook & AlhamdulillahFor!

    Yay! <3

    • Bouchra

Walaikum Assalam, fellow ’93er 😉 – jazakillahu khairan for entering! Love the ideas you have 🙂

Good luck, and may the best 3 of you win!

  3. Fasiha Afzal

Masha’Allah it gives me so much encouragement to drive out to the right path ( I.e. spending life with a plan) when I see such disciplined people like you.:-)
I’m a giveaway freak though but of useful ones 🙂
What I would do with these items is simply to be interactive with my ownself to write down my little, temporary, unreliable plans 😛
Being a mother of two its quite hard to get time to plan but I really need to start working over this. So notebook will be very useful for that.
Fine liners would definitely be great to make writing more fun.
And I just get to know about this ALHAMDULILLAH series today and I really want to explore it.
I guess that’s enough to make me an eligible participant?
BTW thank you for such a thoughtful giveaway 🙂

    • Bouchra

I’m hardly a disciplined person, but thank you for thinking the best of me, Fasiha – and jazakillahu khairan for entering! Love the ideas you have 🙂

Good luck, and may the best 3 of you win!

  4. breharne

OMA I am a planner/stationery addict! Ok here goes..
    1. Alhamdulilah for series, I have the digital and have read it but it is so expensive to get it printed (because I only want one copy). I will work through the book with my 3 year old daughter (and hopefully my husband) so I can start teaching her about Islam at home.
    2. With the gorgeous journal I will use it to plan my children lessons etc. (I have decided to homeschool).
    3. And the fine liners will make my lesson plans, book lists and homeschooling info look absolutely amazing!

  5. Cassy

For all of the supplies i would start a new BuJo. I am just using simple ball point pens and a stenno pad right now.

  6. Shannon Ratcliffe

I’m a much older than you journal nerd too! Many blessing to you on your birthday. I would love a new journal as my current bullet journal is getting full – I put everything in there! The pens I would probably give to my very girly pre-teen daughter who loves to write prettyfied letters to friends and family. The Alhamdulilah book I would love to read, to explore the values and ideas of other faiths.

    • Bouchra

Shannon – thank you for entering and your well-wishes! Love the ideas you have 🙂

Good luck, and may the best 3 of you win!

  7. Jul Marine

    What a lovely idea.
*The pens would replace the pens I just sent to one of my son’s in college, who just started his first bullet journal.
*The journal I would take with me on my yearly birthday retreat. I turn 50 in February and looking forward to this milestone.
    * The “L”, would be my next bullet journal…done neatly and beautifully.

  8. Danielle Gorse

First this is wicked awesome ( sorry from Boston MA).

I plan to use the Alhamdulilah to help me find my joy that I have lost in the chaos of being married with four kids. The journal I plan to use as my next bullet journal, I started in June and I am obsessed. The pens I will use instead if my plan normal pens that smear and seem so boring.

    Thanks!

  9. Christine

I’d like to win this set. As I’m intrigued with bullet journalling and woI’ll love to start with the quality of products!

  10. silvermd

For the Alhamdulilah: to broaden my knowledge of spiritual quests
For the journal: to creatively plan and organize a better life path
For the fine liners: to use in the journal to incorporate an artistic approach to improving planning and organizing

Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.

  11. Tanna

I would use the new journal to start one for work. As a preschool teacher I love attempting to be as organized as possible!! I would use the new pens with this journal and definitely use the alhamdulillah to keep mentally sane as the school year goes on!!

  12. Morgan

I am currently a student at University and I am always looking for ways to be better organized. I have been doing a lot of research on the Bullet Journal, and I like that you can personalize it as much or as little as you want! And, if I understand it correctly, you can plan and journal and make lists and literally do everything in one book!

  13. THERESA

With the notebook I have never had an official nice journal. I always just use what is around. Same with the pens it would put color in my journal because I just use what I had laying around from school. Colors are limited.

  14. American Hijabi

I love this! My husband also did not celebrate any of his birthdays until he came back to Saudi one year when he was 26 and his mother had a surprise brithday for him; now they do it for all the kids and grand-children.

    What Would I Do?

    1. Alhamduillah Series – Give that this book has a Alhamduillah sentiment for each day of the year; I would take each sentiment and share it with my family and followers; in hopes of reminding, that we should be thankful for everything that we have.

    2. A5 Leuchtturm Notebook: I would use this to journal my ideas, thoughts, potential blog posts, hopes and perhaps even dreams.

    3. Feltliners – I would use these magnificent writing utensils to pen anything and everything flowing through my head. They always say a women’s mind is like a internet browser with 75+ open tabs

Thank you for sharing your experience, research, and thank you for doing this giveaway.

Ok so I’m new to this bullet journal stuff. I only delved into it last week. I have been reading about other peoples layouts etc and am excited to try a couple of different ideas. I would love to have the journals you are giving away; I’m just using a very basic notebook right now. I am also a pen addict so would love to have the staedtlers in my collection. I look forward to receiving your ideas as o feel we can all learn from each other.

  16. Nikki

I’m just about to start my bullet journal journey and I’m currently reading LOADS and I mean every scrap of info I can find on bullet journaling, layouts etc etc so the Leuchtturm would be the perfect starter for me.

I love colour!!! I have been eyeing up the fineliners for a while now for handlettering and for the mindfullness colouring-in books. Winning these would be AWESOME!!

I’m not familiar with the Alhamdulillah series, but I do love reading & learning new things, so this would be a fabulous introduction to this.

    Good luck everybody!!!!

  17. Camille

I would love the opportunity to win the prizes.

    -JazakAllah Khair

    1. Alhamdulilah for series: It is my aim to share all of the inspiration found in these small moments we call life. This journal will give me a place to express all of the gratitude that I have for the loved ones around me.

    2. Journal: This has been a year of renewal and self reflection. With the journal I can continue writing my deepest thoughts. I’ve been striving to become more authentic – to expand into possibility and break down the boundaries that enclose me within what is known and what is safe. My practice through inner work allows me to evolve into not only who I feel I am meant to be as an individual, but who I feel I am meant to be as part of the human collective. As I work through my practice daily, I am uniquely reminded of how connected we all are.

    3. Fine Liners: These will go along nicely with the journal which will allow me to write the words that I do not speak.

  18. Abbe Longman

I just started Bullet Journalling a few months ago and I’m still in the process of making it my own, but overall I LOVE it! Definitely what I’ve needed for a long time – so glad I found it!

As for what I’d do with the supplies…… Well, the journal would be perfect since I’ll be finishing up my current book in about two more months by my best estimate. The pens sound lovely – I’d love to have more colors since I love to color code information for quick retrieval! As for the planner – I’m not familiar with it, but I’d love to check it out and see how I can incorporate it into my organizational life!

Thanks so much for the giveaway. I hope this year is the best yet for you!!!!

  19. Marcus

I’m starting my bullet journal and here goes:

I’ll use the Leuchtturm 1917 notebook for my next year bullet journal.
Alhamdulillahfor series: Share it with my kids.
The Staedler fine liners: Use for my bullet journal and journaling

    Congratulations for your giveaway!

  20. Aaminah

    Assalam u ‘alaykum
I may be the last one to enter but I’m so tempted to give it a go because the items made me drool!
I intend to use the Alhamdulillah journal to increase gratitude in my life, both towards the Creator and the creation. I feel gratitude can really shift things even in the most tiring times.
The notebook for my daily journalling. I love journalling and I love writing in good notebooks.
The markers for all the doodling, listing and categorizing lists and tasks. I also love to draw with markers. It just makes me feel so good and give immense pleasure.
As you said, may the best one win!

Your thoughts on this will be appreciated!
